We all have a love language we speak, and one of mine is definitely gifting. At the same time, I’m constantly disappointed by consumerism and the idea of buying things we don’t truly need especially when there are children who lack even basic nutrition. But I also understand where I live, the community I serve, and the desire to give thoughtful, genuinely useful gifts to the people you love… or to your mama-self, for heaven’s sake.
Everything on this list is either consumable, use-up-able, pass-down-able, an experience, or something you’ll have forever and maybe even pass down to your children. These are a few of my favorite things, items I have or would be delighted to receive for myself, my home, or my children.
A note on the Ladies' Coat: I have a different brand, so truly, any high-quality, long-ish, 100% wool coat will be a life-er. And the Perfect Little Purse from Wilder California? A dreamy gift I would personally love. I have her basket bag and use that thing constantly, so that one deserves a mention too. These pieces are an investment, but they’re the real deal... thoughtful design, impeccable materials, and hours upon hours of crafting. Teale, the mama maker behind them, is a dear friend I met on my motherhood journey.
When you choose, buy, wrap and give your gifts I suggest really practicing mindfulness to make the experience relaxing and joyful versus rushed and stressful. Choosing, buying and giving gifts is an incredible pleasure and privilege.
