Frequently Asked Questions
Prenatal Yoga
WHAT TRIMESTER IS BEST TO PRACTICE PRENATAL YOGA?
All three of them! I recommend coming once the nausea has worn off (if you experience any). You can come from very newly pregnant all the way up until when you give birth. We always say that you are just as pregnant the moment you conceive as you are at 40+ weeks along!
DO I NEED TO BE FLEXIBLE, THIN OR STRONG TO DO PRENATAL YOGA?
All types of bodies are welcome and supported here. No requirements except that these classes are for pregnant people.
I'VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE. CAN I START NOW THAT I AM PREGNANT?
You sure can! Pregnancy is a great time to start doing yoga.
WHAT IF I HAVE A HIGH-RISK PREGNANCY?
Check-in with your care provider first about prenatal yoga and feel free to check-in with us too.
IS PRENATAL YOGA DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR YOGA?
It sure is. Many poses are similar but we move differently in the poses and add many prenatal specific movements. The movements are intentionally created to help prep your body and mind for pregnancy, labor and birth.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
A yoga mat (we have extras should you forget yours) and water.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Avoid pants that drag on the ground. Barefoot is best.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRENATAL YOGA VS. REGULAR YOGA?
We create classes with movements and techniques with your baby, pregnancy, labor and birth in mind. This means that even though some of the poses may be similar to a regular yoga class, we often move very differently in them. And, many poses are completely different and prenatal specific. You will also be offered education about pregnancy, labor and birth and you will become connected with a special community of other pregnant people.
WILL I MEET OTHER PREGNANT MOTHERS?
Yesss. This is one of the best parts of these classes, actually. You will meet other women who are going through a similar experience making it a great place to vent, share stories, get tips, or whatever else comes up! We intentionally create a container for a special level of connection.
WHY IS PRENATAL YOGA GOOD FOR YOU?
How many reasons can I list here? Prenatal yoga can help prevent and/or successfully manage many pregnancy-related discomforts such as tension, tightness, back pain, pelvic pain, hip-pain, round lig pain, swelling, reflux, sleep disturbances, anxiety/fear, stress, overwhelm, high emotions, and the list goes on. It also helps prepare your mind and body for labor and birth. It can improve sleep, flexibility, strength, circulation, mobility, lung capacity and that list goes on too!
I HAVE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PREGNANCY AND IF YOGA IS APPROPRIATE FOR ME. CAN I CONNECT WITH YOU?
Yes, of course. Let's email, text or have a phone call.
DO YOU HAVE YOGA PROPS?
Yes, lots of them. :) *NooNoo pop-up classes, we do not have props but we make prop-magic happen with a beach towel (please bring one).
IS THERE PARKING?
Yes, lots of easy and close parking.
WHAT IF I AM LATE?
No worries. We encourage you to be on time and we also support you coming for the last ten minutes of class if that is all you can make it to.

Postpartum Yoga
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Your baby, a yoga mat (if you forget, we have extras), water and a blanket for your baby.
CAN I COME WITHOUT MY BABY?
Yes, of course.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY BABY WHILE IN CLASS?
Bring a blanket and they can lay right next to you. They are also welcome in your lap, on your tummy, in your arms, in their car seat, etc.
HOW OLD DOES MY BABY NEED TO BE?
The important factor is that your body is ready to do some movement. You are welcome to do as much or as little of the class as you like. Baby can be any age as long as they are pre-crawling.
I FEEL NERVOUS SIGNING UP AND TAKING MY BABY OUT TO A CLASS BY MYSELF.
This is a common concern, you are not alone and you will all share about this milestone in class! The hardest part is signing up and thinking about that drive over. Prepare your things and pack the car in advance. Less is more, you don't need a lot for this class. You will get through the first drive no matter how it goes and you can land in our safe space when you get here. You got this, Mama. Many mothers report that they felt a sense of empowerment after making it to the first class.
MY BODY FEELS TIGHT AND TENSE AND I AM OFTEN EMOTIONAL AND TIRED. WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Absolutely, you are not alone and many of the mothers in the class feel similarly. This is a come-as-you-are, judgement-free, safe space.
WHAT IF MY BABY TALKS OR FUSSES A LOT?
We welcome all the baby sounds! This isn't a quiet yoga class and no one in the room expects that.
SHOULD I BRING TOYS FOR MY BABY?
If they are at that age, toys are great to bring.
CAN I BREASTFEED, BOTTLE FEED OR PUMP IN CLASS?
Yep, of course.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE A DIAPER?
You are welcome to do that right in the room. This is a blowout friendly class ;-)
HOW SHOULD I BRING MY BABY INTO THE CLASS?
We have some stairs so bring them in a carrier or the infant car seat. Strollers are welcome to stay in the lobby downstairs.
IS THERE PARKING?
Yes, lots of easy and close parking.
HOW WILL I MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE OTHER MAMAS IN CLASS?
We have intentional and special ways to get you all connected. One of our favs is sending you to Ray's Deli across the street for lunch. It's a very popular after-class activity. ;)
